The Birkin 35 in Doblis suede is a configuration that rarely circulates. Doblis - Hermès' name for their finest velvet-finish suede - was produced in limited quantities and has been largely absent from the maison's active leather offer for some years, making surviving examples archive pieces in the truest sense.
This example is finished in Gris Perle, a pearl grey of quiet authority, complemented by light gold hardware. The turned-down dustcover remains in place over the clasp. The bicolour construction - Grizzly suede body with Swift leather trim - reflects the care Hermès applies even to the structural elements of the bag. Double rolled top handles. Turnlock clasp.
Doblis demands respect in use: suede of this quality is sensitive to moisture and prolonged contact. It is a collector's piece as much as a functional bag, and the Gris Perle colourway suits both private display and considered occasion use.
