Description
The Kelly 25 in Tartan is a limited edition that departs from the house's standard leather offerings without departing from its standards of craft. The exterior is woven in a pink and green tartan on an ivory ground - most likely a brushed wool or cashmere-blend - framed by smooth cream leather at the handles, trim, and twin top grips. Palladium hardware, including the signature turnlock clasp, keeps the palette cool and the construction precise.
The Kelly silhouette - architectural, single-handled, essentially unchanged since the 1930s - provides the structure that allows the tartan exterior to read as considered rather than decorative. The contrast between the softness of the woven body and the rigidity of the Sellier construction is what makes this edition coherent as a collector piece.
Limited edition Kellys in textile exteriors rarely circulate. They are produced in small numbers, distributed selectively, and tend to remain in private collections. This example, presented with the Hermès orange box and linen dustbag, is offered in the condition it was kept.
