The Birkin 30 HSS - Horseshoe Stamp, the designation given to Hermès special-order commissions - marks this piece as one produced outside the standard production run. The configuration here is bi-colour: black Epsom leather for the body, craie for the rolled top handles and trim, united by white contrast topstitching and brushed palladium hardware.
Epsom's embossed grain is among the most resilient of the Hermès leathers - highly resistant to moisture and scratching, with a firmness that preserves the Birkin's silhouette over years of use. Brushed palladium hardware mutes the shine without diminishing the weight of the fittings.
At 30 cm, this is the Birkin in its most considered form: compact enough to carry through an evening, structured enough for a working day. The HSS designation and bi-colour combination ensure it stands apart from standard production pieces.
