The Haut à Courroies - HAC - predates the Birkin by decades. It is the bag from which the Birkin's proportions were drawn: taller, more structured, conceived originally for equestrian travel. The HAC 50 is the format at its most commanding - a large-volume silhouette that makes no concession to compactness.
This example is executed in Barénia Faubourg leather in ébène, a rich dark brown that develops a patina particular to this skin over time. Barénia is one of the house's most heritage-laden leathers - vegetable-tanned, sensitive to handling, and beloved precisely because it records the life of its owner. The EN SELLE HAUT À COURROIES construction references the equestrian origins of the format directly.
Palladium hardware - dual rolled top handles, centre turn-lock closure, padlock and clochette - is correct and consistent throughout. The scale of the HAC 50 makes it the natural choice for extended travel or as an archive piece: a bag that carries with it the full weight of the house's history.
